Looking Ahead

backcover BeginningsFor those of you who are eagerly waiting for the upcoming Marlin & Percy novel, you’re probably wondering what else we have planned for this new corner of our storytelling universe. Well, it’s a doozy for sure, and you’re in luck because I’ve got teasers, teasers, teasers!

Tyler and I have been chatting for a while now (over our usual brainstorm sessions of Super Smash Bros.) about what areas of our story would be fun to explore. You’ve probably noticed this, but there’s plenty of things in the comics that we’ve had to gloss over. It’s not because there’s no story there, but when you’re telling a certain story in comics, sometimes you have to keep up a breakneck speed and focus on the main plot instead of all the fun things happening behind the scenes.

But there are lots going on behind the scenes, I can tell you that.

We’ve gotten a lot of positive response to the recent issues of the comic, which feature our heroes joining up with the Capybara and his horde of snow monkey ninjas. Not to pat ourselves on the back too much, but this isn’t a major surprise. Why? Because everyone loves ninjas! We are no different, and we’ve been itching to tell you about all the adventures that took place while Marlin and Percy were sporting that sneaky ninja garb. I don’t want to spoil too much, but novel #2 has a LOT of ninja action, and plenty of globe-trotting, as our heroes travel across the world to bring down a host of new villains.

Honestly, I can’t decide which upcoming story I’m more excited to tell, between Book 2 and Book 3. After ninjas, we’re going to go in a completely different direction for the follow-up, which picks up the story after issue 5 of the comic and leads up to the events that kick off issue 6. Without spoiling too much (since issue 6 is not out yet though we are hard at work on it!), Percy and the Girl travel back in time to Victorian England…and there’re lots of robots.

I’m getting starry-eyed just thinking about it. We’ve just barely begun to reveal the big picture we have in store for our apes, but things will start to take shape in the near future, and we can’t wait for you to get a look at what’s in store!
